FENTON WEATHER
Runyan Lake ice conditions*:
Danger/Unsafe
(3/23/23)
There is no ice on the majority of the lake.
*There may be ice in the cove and channel areas of better
quality. As always,
use caution!
Tell
someone before going out onto the ice and when you expect to be back, and never
attempt a rescue of pets or persons without the help of others. Ice on Runyan Lake varies in quality around the lake, is unpredictable, and is often of
poor quality. In temperatures above 28 degrees the ice will rapidly melt from
underneath, resulting in weakened ice conditions. Have fun, but be safe!
Note: RLI does not test ice conditions around the lake. This safety assessment
is determined by general observation and condition reports received by RLI.
As always, you are responsible for your own safety. Ice conditions can
change quickly as temperatures rise and during windy conditions.
Index:
Good:
Ice conditions believed to be safe but always use caution and check ice
conditions as you go.
Fair:
Ice
conditions believed good except along shore lines, near the ski course, and near
the Denton Creek
inlet. As always, check ice conditions as you go.
Caution:
Ice conditions are inconsistent around the lake, with some areas being
unsafe. Use caution!
Danger/Unsafe:
Ice is not safe to walk on.
Not Determined:
Ice is present on the lake surface but the quality of the ice has not been
determined.
2023 Dues Invoices
As of 2/18/23 all dues invoices have been mailed.
Questions regarding the increase in the dues amounts for 2023 may
be answered after reviewing the following information:
Annual dues are determined by vote of the
general membership during our Fall General Membership Meeting, held
on 9/2/2022. A synopsis of that meeting has been posted on
the home page of our website since 9/12. During the Fall
General meeting there was a lengthy discussion about cove and boat
ramp area dredging and the options for island dock repair. As
documented in the minutes from the meeting (the full draft minutes
are available on our website), the membership determined we had
insufficient funds to complete all of the projects being requested
so they proposed an increase to the dues, which was approved by
vote of the membership.

Dues for 2023 are: Class A - $300; Class B - $295;
Class C - $35.

minutes can be found below. |

ramp use policy, consistent with our Bylaws is:

Environmental Protection Act (Act 451 of 1994) Part 413 has been amended
with changes for boaters and anglers that take effect March 21, 2019.

Cove Dredging/Ramp/Dock Update
ove
Dredging: Proposal developed with ASTI input. Pre-application
meeting via phone with EAGLE. Terms and conditions established.
Permit application generated. Cost estimate is $70,000.00.
On hold due to ramp extension issue.
Ramp extension/repair: EAGLE agreeable to 5 foot maximum
extension. Dredging to be completed first. Attempting to
complete before cove freezes but will be largely dependent on dredging
timing and weather. Cost estimate is $20,000.00.
On hold - depth of unstable soil at end of
ramp much deeper then thought. Proposed extension technique will not
work. Need to identify new method/strategy for extension before we
can dredge the cove.
Island Dock Repair or Replacement: Quotes obtained.
Discussing different proposals for removable vs permanent dock options.
Project deferred to 2022 due to focus on Cove and Ramp, and funding
constraints. Cost estimates range from $20,000.00 to $55,000.00.
Will present membership with options
to choose from.
Letter from ASTI as requested

Purple Loosestrife
Alert
Purple Loosestrife matures in the late summer/early fall.
If you
see and can access the invasive plant (spikes of purple
flowers), please cut off the blooms and bag them carefully in a plastic
garbage bag. Tie up the bag and place it in your trash. One plant has
millions of seeds that will fall and reseed the plant next year if not removed. This is an undesirable
invasive plant that will choke out native plants. More information and
pictures can be found here.

Sewer Rate Increase!
Jan 2022 (current) rate: $249.00 per quarter
On 12/1/15 the Tyrone Township Board approved
increases to our quarterly sewer O&M fees for 2016 - 2021 of
approximately 3.5% annually.
Annual increases are expected to
continue thereafter. RLI remains
concerned about the large cost incurred by RLI Members while most of the
Tyrone Township sewer system remains unused. We will continue to work with the Drain
Commission and Township in an effort to control costs and require others to
pay their fair share.
Please contact Pam Moughler, Clerk, or
Jennifer Eden, Treasurer, @ 810-629-8631 with your questions, concerns, or
complaints.
Jan 2023 (current) rate: $256.00/quarter
Rate details and rate history can be found on the on the Sewer page.
We now pay $1024/yr for sewer service, an increase
of $724/yr (241%) since 2004! This does not
include the special assessment levied for the 2003 system upgrade, an additional
$300/yr for most, or the additional $650 assessment for the grinder pump!
Are we really paying our fair share or are we
subsidizing the rest of the undeveloped system?
Ask your township officials
about the debt service charge we pay, and who's sewer service we are also
paying for as a result!
